Dignity aFoundation, the NGO for senior citizens was started in the form of a magazine in Mumbai, in 1995. Since then the NGO grew as a full time elderly care centre for the destitute across Mumbai, Maharashtra. Based on the principles of equality, perseverance, positive thinking, simplicity and self-belief, the NGO for senior citizens has vbecome one of the most active non-profit organisations working for the betterment of the elderly across India in 2022.

Most of the elderly taken care by the NGO are severely affected by dementia and other chronic mental illness forms. Dignity, as the name spells, the NGO is making it possible for these elderly people to live their phases of life with dignity and compassion. International organisations like bank of America has also colaborated with the NGO for their special day-care programs for the elderly across Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Founder's vision & message

Ms. Sheilu Srinivasan incepted Dignity NGO in the year 1995. At that time she was inspired by a magazine called Modern Maturity and on its platform, Dignity Foundation was started as a magazine initially. The founder always had an attitude of care for the destitute. People suffering from dementia were the primary focus of Srinivasan for whom the old age home and day care home at the Dignity Foundation were started. In 1995 she quit her full time jib and became 199% devoted for the cause. 

Later on She collaborated with Mr. R. Sridhar, the first president of Ogivly Direct. Later on with much of her husband's savings Ms. Sheilu, the founder of the Dignity Foundation was able to secure a trust status for the foundation around 1998. The founder firmly believes that elderly must be taken care of like they card for us when we were young. To support the NGO funds, supplies and voluntary help are accepted whole heartedly.
