Education and women empowerment is what developing countries desperately need. Assam-based Ayang Trust works for social empowerment and education of the underprivileged classes. They came into existence in 2017. The NGO started “The Hummingbird School” by enrolling 70 students from class LKG to class 6. Currently, the NGO is educating 225+ students out of which most of them have no parent or only a single parent. 

Having seen the positive growth in the children of Hummingbird School from regular storytelling and library sessions, the NGO wanted to create more opportunities for children of other schools. The same led them to start “Mobile Library” in August 2018. Ayang is conducting library sessions in 27 government schools in Majuli currently with 1366 children through this intervention on a weekly basis.
